Every day, there are 40,000 people in Kitsap County who struggle to put food on their table. According to a recent study from the USDA, at some point in the year, 1 in 6 Americans won’t know where their next meal will come from. By working with individuals, small businesses, grocery stores, civic groups, schools and churches across our community, we are working to eliminate hunger.
At the crossroads of compassion and integrity, by a partnership with both the private and public sector, South Kitsap Helpline was born. For more than three decades, our mission has remained the same to empower people and eliminate hunger in our community. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, that mission is fulfilled every day.
With help from our community, in 2013 we provided groceries to 53,234 children, adults, and senior citizens in Port Orchard. In recent years, demand has risen drastically as more people are laid off and struggling to make ends meet. We cannot rest. We must work and push forward our mission of empowering people and eliminating hunger.
