The South Kitsap Helpline is 501(c)3 non-profit organization which has served South Kitsap children, adults and senior citizens in need since 1980. It is our goal to help make sure that all of our neighbors who are struggling have the food they need for themselves and their families.
Every day, 40,000 people in Kitsap County struggle to put food on their table. According to a recent study from the USDA, at some point in the year, 1 in 6 Americans won’t know where their next meal will come from. By working with individuals, small businesses, grocery stores, civic groups, schools, and churches across our community, we are working to eliminate hunger in our community.
Our business office and food bank are both open to the public Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12-5 p.m. We are closed on Wednesdays, weekends and holidays. For inclement weather, we follow the South Kitsap School District weather closures for guidance. For more information about our agency and the services we offer, please call 360.876.4089.
We distribute over 100,000 pounds of nutritious food each year including 50,000 pounds of fresh produce.
Our food bank distributes perishable and non-perishable food, toiletries, pet food and other needed items to households and those without shelter living in the South Kitsap area of Port Orchard.
Food Bank Hours
Sales from our greenhouses support a really great cause—our community food bank, the South Kitsap Helpline!
Beginning in 2021, our agency will have an annual spring plant sale one weekend in May where we will sell the wonderful vegetable starts and herbs our community has come to love. Unfortunately, we will be discontinuing our daily on-site sales to the public and most of our flower sales in 2021. Doing so will allow us to direct all of our focus to our food bank and social service programs and growing the fresh produce for those programs in our gardens here. We will announce the date for our big greenhouse sale in April so please stay tuned!
